Accounting Software with Accountant Access for Ireland
If you act as agent for clients through the Revenue Online Service (ROS), the accounting software they choose shapes your working life as much as theirs. WDI Billing is built as accounting software with accountant access for Ireland - not a practice-management platform, not a multi-client dashboard that tries to replace the relationship you already have with your clients, but a way for a sole trader, contractor or small Ltd company to keep their own books while giving you clean, controlled access when you need it.
Clients keep asking for the same three things: their books stay theirs, nothing goes near ROS until someone presses "file", and whatever they hand you at year-end doesn't need three hours of reformatting first. That's exactly what we've built for.
Not practice management - client-owned books, accountant access
WDI Billing isn't a portal for running your whole client book from one login. Each client owns their own account, their own data, and their own decisions about what gets shared. What you get is accountant access to the specific client who invites you in - a "break-glass" style permission model, not standing admin rights over every business you touch.
- Clients invite you into their account with the permission level they choose - view-only for a quick review, or full working access when you're preparing a VAT3 or year-end set of accounts.
- You see exactly what they see: the same ledger, the same bank feed, the same document trail - no separate "accountant version" that drifts out of sync with reality.
- Access can be switched off by the client at any time. Nothing lingers after an engagement ends.
That matters in a ROS-agent world where you're formally the client's agent for filing purposes but you don't want to be the permanent custodian of every business's data long after the job is done.
Prepare mode: nothing files until someone chooses to
Every WDI Billing account runs in one of three modes - Records, Prepare, and File - and Prepare is the default. Figures accumulate as the client trades, get tidied up as invoices and receipts come in, and sit ready for review. Nothing streams to Revenue automatically. When a VAT3 return is ready, either you or your client presses file - deliberately, with eyes on the numbers first.
For an accountant, that's the difference between chasing down what a client's software has already submitted and reviewing a return before it goes anywhere near ROS. You stay in control of the moment of filing, not just the moment of data entry.
GDPR data residency your clients will ask about
Irish business owners - and the accountants advising them - increasingly ask where their data actually sits before they'll sign up to anything. WDI Billing holds client data on an EU/GDPR-compliant basis, with no default sharing outside that footprint. That's a straightforward answer to give a client who's comparing options, and one less compliance question for you to field on their behalf.
Euro-native, ROS-ready, export-clean
Every ledger, invoice and VAT3 preparation runs natively in euro - no currency-conversion oddities to explain to a client, and no reconciling entries that only exist because the software defaulted to the wrong currency. VAT3 figures are structured to be ROS-ready, so the numbers you're reviewing map directly onto the boxes you'll be filing.
When it's time to hand data to your own systems, or to a client moving between advisors, exports are clean rather than locked in a proprietary format. There's no per-invoice fee sitting between a client and their own transaction history, and no penalty for pulling a full export whenever it's needed.
Document ingestion that saves you chasing paper
Receipt and document scanning is opt-in and works with or without AI assistance switched on - clients who want automatic categorisation can turn it on, and clients who'd rather everything stay manual can leave it off. Either way, the source documents sit alongside the ledger entries they generated, so when you're preparing a return or answering a Revenue query, the paper trail is already attached rather than living in a separate inbox or shoebox.
Built for the sole trader and small Ltd end of your client book
WDI Billing is aimed at the clients most accountants spend the most admin time on: sole traders, contractors and small Ltd companies who need their own invoicing and bookkeeping tool, not a scaled-down version of enterprise software. Because they own the account, they can bring you in for a VAT3 review, a Form 11 season, or a year-end set of accounts without you having to set up and maintain their software for them.
See how it fits alongside your own workflow on our Ireland accounting software hub, check current plans on pricing, and if you'd rather formalise a referral relationship, our accountant partner programme covers that separately from day-to-day client access.
Try it with a client before you recommend it to the rest
The easiest way to judge accountant access is to use it on one client's account. Ask an existing client to start a free trial of WDI Billing, invite you in at the access level you need, and see how a Prepare-mode VAT3 review actually feels before their next filing deadline.
